Our Mission Statement
Our Mission.....To improve the quality of life for individuals with physical and/or
cognitive disabilities by providing specialized
disabled golf and life skills programs to
enhance their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.
To assist in the development and implementation of rehabilitative and therapeutic
golf based programs in conjunction with any civic or government organization,
hospital, medical center, facility, community or support group.
Participants learn to use their abilities to improve themselves both on the golf course
and in their everyday lives.  Taught by the United States Disabled Golf Academy,
Our Certified
Disabled Golf Instructors teach golf as a rehabilitative tool along with
important life skills inherently attached with the game.

Our Vision.....To expand our Disabled Golf programs into more communities
statewide and nationally   so more juniors, adults, American Veterans and Military
service personnel and their families can benefit from the many aspects of which the
great game of golf offers.

Our History.....The Adaptive Golf Foundation (intially founded as Florida
Adaptive Golf) began on the basis of one question, "Will I ever play golf again?" That
question was asked of Paul B. Goodlander, PTA, in 1998 by a Mr. Charles "Bus"
Crosley after a rehab session. Charles had suffered a CVA (stroke) and was
concerned that he would never play his favorite sport again. This is when Paul and a
small group of devoted golfers began hosting weekly golf instructional programs to
enhance the physical and mental rehabilitation process for participants with injuries
and disabilities.
Since 1998, we have scheduled a
disabled golf instructional program every week for
community participants. "We are the only program of its kind, and extremely proud
to have the longest running, most consistent
disabled golf program in the country,
we are not re-inventing the game of golf, but modifying how the game is taught,
learned, and played via some form of modified technique to the golf swing and/or
equipment used, so regardless of disability, anyone can learn to play and enjoy the
benefits of the game of a lifetime."
In 2008, after 10 years of conducting weekly sessions, we have now become the
Adaptive Golf Foundation of America, Inc.
The Adaptive Golf Foundation concept was originally founded by US and Canadian
Amputee Champion Sonny Ackerman with the dream of making golf more accessible
and enjoyable to everyone!  Oliver Perry "Sonny" Ackerman died January 20, 2006,
but his legacy will be carried on through the Foundation which he founded.  Sonny
will always be our inspiration that anyone can enjoy the great game of golf. We must
thank him and his family for their continued dedication to the mission of making the
great game of golf an exciting and enjoyable outlet for persons with disabilities.
"Both are naturally competitive and aren't willing to let their disabilities hold them
back. Maxfield, 22, played football at Oxford Hills High. Dunwoody, 44, is a former
Navy and Delta Airlines pilot."
